MetroRock is pleased to offer Yoga classes on a regular basis. Classes are taught by experienced yoga instructors who also share the passion of climbing. This allows them to focus-in on strengthening and stretching core muscles used in the sport. Yoga practice will help you increase flexibility, strength and mental focus; all vital elements to improve your climbing abilities!
Yoga is FREE for members and just $5 for non-members.

Cindy Jao, Lead Instructor Cindy discovered a love of yoga several years ago and hasn’t looked back since. She completed an intense 200-hour training in India, where she lived on an ashram, deepened her practice, and immersed herself in the yogic lifestyle. Her teaching comes from the heart, and blends her own experiences doing yoga in the East and the West. Her classes emphasize proper alignment and coordination of breath with movement, providing a foundation for developing the individual practice. She is continually inspired by the amazing teachers, students, crossfitters, runners, and climbers that surround her and hopes to share her love of yoga with them.
Kristin Shearer Kristin started practicing yoga as a way to stretch out and recover from years of sports. Although drawn in for the physical benefits, it was the mental benefits that kept her coming back for more. There's nothing like the grounded clarity that comes from an hour of listening to your body and letting go of the rest. Kristin did her 200-hour training at Corepower in 2015, and has been teaching ever since. With an emphasis on creative sequencing and safe alignment, Kristin's classes will leave you feeling strong and stretched.
Melissa Paz Melissa has always been inspired by the human body as an instrument for self expression. Having been a ballet dancer for the majority of her life, she found herself re-ignited by what the practice would bring to her performance. This led her to complete her 200-hr teacher training from CorePower Yoga. Her style of teaching aims to be supportive and personalized, while incorporating a focus on body awareness that she finds integral to various athletic pursuits. She has continuously been both motivated and uplifted by how much the rock climbing and yoga community complement one another in their ability to align mental and physical fortitude. She is excited to foster that connection for her students at MetroRock.
Kate-Marie Roycroft Kate-Marie discovered yoga six years ago when a colleague asked her to join her in a class. She fell in love with the sense of peace and community that yoga gave her and has been practicing ever sense. Kate-Marie received her 200 hour yoga certification from Barre & Soul in Melrose. She teaches a moderately paced vinyasa flow style that is accessible to and enjoyable for all level of practitioner. She loves to bring fun and playful poses into her classes. Kate-Marie tries to find the joy and laughter in the everyday and bring this into her teaching. When not practicing or teaching yoga she can be found climbing with her husband or running through the woods with her dog.
